What are Charge electric bikes?
The company got its start back in 2004 and was later acquired by Dorel, the large owner of Cannondale, Schwinn, GT, and other brands. Since its origins, Charge has had a close relationship with Cannondale, and models are often distributed across Cannondale dealers and affiliated bike shops in the US. In 2020, Charge launched its line of electric bikes.
Charge has a lineup of three electric bike models:
- Charge City: Electric hybrid bike designed for urban commuting
- Charge Comfort: Relaxed step-through e-Bike for leisurely, upright rides
- Charge XC: Hardtail e-MTB for on- and off-road adventures

Charge E-Bike Models
Charge City

The Charge City electric commuter bike lets you take the city by storm, charging through up to 20 mph via pedal-assist or throttle model. It’s an elegant urban model that’s still fully loaded with convenient features like a rear rack, fenders, integrated lights, and foldable handlebars to save space when stored. There’s a Bafang 250W rear hub motor and a removable battery on this Class 2 e-Bike. The City model is available in step-through and step-over frame options, as well as Small and Large sizes.
Charge Comfort

Who’s it for: Casual cyclists who value a comfortable, upright step-through design for relaxed cruising and easy pedaling.
The Charge Comfort is a comfort-oriented electric bike with a step-through frame and upright seating position. It’s a super approachable design that feels stable with balanced geometry and wide tires. The Comfort 2 model is lightweight and has wider tires than the original Comfort 1 electric bike. It rides up to 20 mph, powered by a 250W Bafang rear hub motor and 418 Wh battery located inside the rear rack.
Charge XC

The Charge XC is a versatile hardtail electric mountain bike rated for adventures on the road and well off the beaten path. It’s significantly more rugged than the other Charge e-Bikes thanks to the SR Suntour XCM 34 suspension fork with 100mm of travel and large-diameter Goodyear Peak 29 x 2.25" tires. And unlike the City and Comfort, this model is powered by a Shimano E5000 250W mid-drive motor. Ready for the streets and capable on the trails, the Charge XC electric bike is an exciting all-rounder.
