The Scott Voltage is an interesting bike in that, unlike a lot of e-MTBs. It’s in the category for me of an e-MTB that doesn’t really feel like an e-MTB, in a good way. It climbs wonderfully with a lightness you might not expect from a mountain bike and a smooth assist that almost feels like you have more powerful legs, not a motor.
The geometry is designed for confident descending, and with the full suspension, it will be really responsive to bumps and corners. With its light weight, it’s got a much more playful feel compared to heavily super-powered e-Bikes.
It’s got much more ability than most people think. Another great talking point for me is that the bike offers a lot of comfort. It’s not made to be a crazy-aggressive e-Bike, but something you can ride regularly or for long spells without it being awful on the back or hands.
Motor And Battery
The motor and battery are not what you would typically see on an e-MTB. It utilizes the TQ motor, which is probably one of the lightest e-Bike systems available. It doesn’t boast a giant torque figure of 120 Nm. It's just 60Nm. It doesn’t have a huge 840Wh battery, just 360Wh.
It’s important to understand that this is a good thing, not a bad thing. It not only delivers incredibly natural assistance but also reduces the bike's overall weight by around 5kg thanks to this forward-thinking design. It not only makes the bike incredibly efficient but also really playful and fun to ride.
The range is always a question I get asked. It states around 30 to 60 miles, but there are just too many variables. In real-world riding, I would expect between 20 and 50 miles, keeping it in a good range without risking full depletion.
