What makes the Giant Stance E+ a great mountain bike?

The Stance E+ is a mountain bike first and an electric bike second. Giant used the same top tech they do on the analog version of the Stance, but built it around a drive unit. This process makes it a fun, versatile, and fast aluminum trail bike that can give you some extra help when it’s needed.

  • Frame: Giant used their ALUXX SL aluminum on the Stance E+. This frame offers an outstanding strength-to-weight-ratio while keeping the price low. The frame has a slack head angle and steep seat angle to balance stability at high speed with climbing ability. This is similar to the geometry you will find on top Giant MTBs.

  • Suspension: At the rear of the Giant Stance E+, you will find a Fox Float or Giant Crest RL shock depending on the model. Both offer 140mm of rear suspension travel. It pairs with a suspension fork, which adds 150mm of front suspension travel. Giant used their FlexPoint Pivot System to make the rear wheel more active, topping off the excellent compliance on this all-mountain e-Bike.

  • Components: The Giant Stance E+ comes with 29-inch alloy wheels, which enhance speed and capability on the trail. They are equipped with hydraulic disc brakes, which are a must on electric mountain bikes. Cables are all internally routed, helping to keep a clean cockpit and optimize aero efficiency.

What kind of e-Bike tech does the Stance E+ have?

Giant worked with Yamaha to get their riders a powerful motor at a fair price. Yamaha delivered, and now you can get this very capable trail e-Bike without breaking the bank. It has Class 1 status, meaning that it is legal to ride almost anywhere a regular bike can go.

  • Drive Unit: Giant and Yamaha collaborated to make the SyncDrive Pro 3X. The motor is known for its climbing prowess and ability to handle varied terrain. This motor boasts up to 100 Nm of torque and 800 W when assisting your ride up to 20 mph. It is a mid-drive motor, helping you maintain a proper center of gravity on the trail.

  • Battery: A large-capacity downtube EnergyPak battery can provide up to 800 Wh of range depending on which model you get. If that’s somehow not enough, you can toss on a range extender for a bonus 250 Wh. The battery includes Smart Charger Technology, avoiding overcharging and keeping battery cells healthy.

  • Bonus features: The Giant Stance E+ has smart sensors that communicate with the motor to provide just the right amount of assistance to maintain a natural ride feel. These sensors measure speed, torque, cadence, slope, and power. A handlebar remote combines with a color screen to make a clean cockpit command center in case you want to change your settings manually.

Who is the Giant Stance E+ for?

Anyone who loves exploring new mountain trails and has fun riding full-suspension bikes will enjoy the Giant Stance. Even if you don’t consider yourself “an e-Bike person,” this one is worth a try. It will never overtake your riding experience; it will only enhance it. The motor is great for when you need a little boost to keep up with a group or make it up a hill, but outside of that, it is barely noticeable. The Giant Stance E+ is a very fun and capable electric mountain bike that is more affordable than you’d expect.
