BULLS Desert Falcon EVO Review: Bosch Road E-Bike

At the center of the electric road bike is Bosch’s Gen4 Performance Speed motor, delivering 85Nm of torque with pedal assistance up to 28 mph (Class 3). Rather than simply adding power, the system helps flatten long climbs, strong headwinds, and sustained cruising speeds while still encouraging riders to pedal. That’s exactly what many riders expect from a modern endurance electric road bike.

The motor pairs with Bosch’s integrated 500Wh PowerTube battery, keeping weight centered inside the aluminum frame while maintaining clean lines. Although newer Bosch systems now offer larger batteries, 500Wh is still a great capacity for an endurance-focused electric road bike, providing enough range for longer recreational rides, challenging commutes, and all-day fitness rides.

Another feature worth mentioning is the Bosch Kiox display. It provides speed, battery level, navigation, and ride data, allowing the bike to retain the clean appearance of a modern road bike. Overall, the Desert Falcon EVO is a road bike first and an e-Bike second. The Bosch system supports the ride instead of defining it, which is why it appeals to experienced road cyclists looking to ride farther rather than simply ride faster.

The drivetrain is a further highlight. Instead of a traditional road groupset, BULLS chose Shimano GRX Di2 11-speed electronic shifting. Originally developed for gravel riding, GRX combines quick, precise electronic shifts with gearing that works well on steep climbs and rolling pavement alike. It also gives the Desert Falcon EVO more flexibility than many dedicated electric road bikes, especially for riders who occasionally venture onto well-maintained gravel roads.

A few other components deserve mention:

• BULLS carbon fork helps reduce road vibration while providing precise steering.
• Ovalized carbon seatpost adds comfort on longer rides.
• DT Swiss HE1800 Spline wheels have an excellent reputation for durability and dependable performance.
• Schwalbe E-One EVO 700×32 tires strike a practical balance between efficiency, grip, and ride comfort.

Taken together, those specifications show BULLS was aiming for an endurance-oriented road bike rather than a dedicated race bike. The emphasis is on covering longer distances efficiently without sacrificing the responsive handling riders expect from drop bars. And the choice of 700×32 tires, carbon components, and endurance geometry also makes rough pavement noticeably more forgiving than many traditional race bikes running narrower tires. 

The Desert Falcon EVO doesn’t fit neatly into one category, and that’s part of its appeal. At its core, it’s an electric endurance road bike. The riding position, Bosch Performance Speed motor, DT Swiss wheels, and Shimano GRX Di2 drivetrain all point toward riders who spend most of their time covering pavement efficiently. Whether that’s a fast weekday commute, a weekend century, or a fitness ride after work, the bike is designed to make speed and distance easier to maintain.

At the same time, BULLS didn’t build a road bike that only belongs on perfectly smooth pavement. Hydraulic disc brakes, 700×32 Schwalbe E-One EVO tires, and GRX gearing give it enough versatility for rough county roads and well-maintained gravel. 

I’d take a close look at the Desert Falcon EVO if you:

• Ride mostly on pavement but occasionally venture onto smooth gravel roads.
• Want a Class 3 electric road bike that can maintain higher cruising speeds.
• Regularly ride 40, 50, or even 70-plus miles and appreciate assistance on sustained climbs or windy days.
• Prefer the efficiency and multiple hand positions of drop bars over an upright commuter bike.

But the Desert Falcon EVO probably isn’t the right choice if you’re looking for a dedicated gravel bike or an ultra-light race bike. Instead, it occupies the middle ground, offering the speed of a road bike with enough versatility to handle roads that aren’t always perfectly maintained.

The Desert Falcon EVO hasn’t changed as dramatically over the years as some of BULLS’ mountain bikes, but it’s still worth confirming the exact model year before comparing prices. Bosch electronics, displays, and component specifications have evolved, and two bikes with the same name may not be equipped in exactly the same way. Once you’ve confirmed the model, I’d pay closer attention to condition than cosmetic wear.

Mileage alone doesn’t concern me on a well-maintained road bike. Regular servicing usually tells you far more than the number displayed on the Bosch computer. And a bike that’s been ridden consistently, cleaned, and maintained is often a better purchase than one that’s spent years sitting unused.

Electronic shifting is another reason maintenance records matter. Shimano Di2 systems have earned an excellent reputation for reliability, but it’s still worth checking that everything shifts smoothly, the battery holds a charge, and the firmware is up to date.

A premium electric road bike deserves more than a quick ride around a parking lot. The Bosch motor, PowerTube battery, Shimano GRX Di2 drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, and DT Swiss wheels are all premium components. Knowing they’ve been professionally inspected removes much of the uncertainty associated with buying used.
