Bombtrack’s history
One of the newer brands on the market, Bombtrack was founded in Cologne, Germany, in 2011. They are an evolution of the popular Wethepeople BMX bike brand. The company started as a fixed-gear and track bike brand. This beginning was the inspiration behind the name, with “bomb” representing the fixed-gear side of the brand, and of course, “track” referring to their track bikes. After just three years with a focus on fixies and track bikes, Bombtrack made a shift in focus to adventure bikes.
In the 2010s, it was not unusual to see a bike brand make a switch to gravel and all-road bikes. What became known as the gravel boom was in full flux, and lots of brands took advantage. Bombtrack already had an established name and following, so they were able to make a smooth transition. They started with a focus on versatility and bikepacking adventures, but eventually became a staple in the ultra-endurance racing scene. Bombtrack became known for their durable steel frames, but also started making lightweight aluminum and carbon frames to accommodate their professional riders. Today, they play a large role in the all-road scene and even have a bikepacking component and accessory company called Seido.
