Written by: Robbie Ferri | June 6, 2026 Time to read 6 min

The Aventon Level has a dangerous habit of turning small errands into unnecessary bike rides. Need milk? Bike ride? Need coffee? Bike ride. Need absolutely nothing? Surprisingly... also bike ride. That's usually a good sign you're riding something pretty dam good!

An Aventon Level
Certain things in life we just learn to tolerate, and unfortunately, one of these is traffic. For years, I personally didn’t own a car, and my wife never understood why I found traffic so frustrating. It was because I very rarely had to deal with it. Sitting in traffic is avoidable, and unless it’s your hobby, the question is: why do it?

An e-Bike will help you get to work faster, exercise, save money, and benefit the environment. The Aventon Level could be your ticket to getting away from traffic, and in this article, we’re reviewing it. Here’s everything you need to know!

What is Aventon?

Aventon is a well-known brand in the electric bike market. It all originally started with urban commuters in 2012, but by 2018, they were fully invested in electric bikes. They got it right very quickly and hit the early e-Bike boom.

Well known for great pricing, high quality, and bikes with smart features that are still beginner-friendly. They focus on bikes such as cargo (Aventon Abound), commuters (Aventon Level), fat bikes (Aventon Aventure), gravel/e-MTB (Aventon Ramblas), and even folding bikes (Aventon Sinch)

The Aventon Level 3 Vs Level 4

It’s important to mention that there are a lot of different Level models to choose from. Levels 3 and 4 are the most current, and they come in different specifications, such as step-through or normal, and Rec or ADV.

These really change the bike's power and weight more than anything else, and they also affect the price. I will be discussing the bikes as a whole. The ADV came with a mid drive motor which is much better than the hub drive. The 4 is a much sleeker bike in design. We also have a review on the Aventon Level 2!

An Aventon Level

Does The Aventon Level Perform Well?

Surprisingly, for a commuter, the Aventon Level has great performance. The base models produce 60 Nm of torque, and the higher-end models produce 100 Nm. That’s a lot of get-up-and-go, and you won't struggle to get up a hill easily. It comes from a rear hub motor, which isn’t as good as a mid-drive but keeps costs down.

The stated range is around 70 miles, which is estimated. When I say 'estimated,' it’s rare you'll get that. I'd probably say 30 to 50 is more realistic. You have different assistance levels, ranging from smooth, barely noticeable to punchy starts. For a commuter bike, the performance is very good. It’s a Class 2 (Throttle) bike which is unlockable to a Class 3 (Pedal Assist 28mph top speed)

What Are The Components Like?

So, aside from the electrical side, we have the mechanical components. On the basic models, you get 8-speed drivetrains, and the more expensive models up to 10-speed drivetrains. The components are basic but high-quality, and they use Shimano components most of the time.

Personally, one of the most overlooked components I see on e-Bikes is the brake system. Aventon has equipped all models with hydraulic disc brakes, which make stopping easier and significantly enhance safety.

What's the Level Comfort And Design Like?

If there’s one thing Aventon does very well, it’s comfort, and the Aventon is designed to be the kind of bike you can sit on all day. This is where they really excel. The bikes don’t just have a good seating position. You also get suspension, a comfortable seat, and really high handlebars.

The designs look fantastic. If there’s one thing I really rate about Aventon, it's that they make a great-looking bike, and everything is hidden away really well, such as the battery and even the motor in the rear wheel. They look much more expensive than they are.

Smart Bike

The Level hides some excellent features to improve the overall bike and how it feels to ride. You get Uphill start assistance, Autoshift, Ride Tune, and 4G connectivity. You even get an e-Lock and GPS tracking.

Is The Aventon Level Worth The Money?

Aventon Levels are amazing value for money. The basic models currently cost $1,600, and the advanced models around $2,800. What a bargain in my eyes. Very few brands can beat that, especially with the quality that they offer.
