What are Addmotor electric bikes?

Addmotor specializes in entry-level electric bikes, though its claim to fame is its impressively large fleet of electric trikes for adults. Nearly all the models have rear hub motors and comfortable fat tires, with a huge range of options to choose from, including hybrid, folding, and cargo electric bikes, as well as e-trikes.

Addmotor was founded in 2011 in California and designs and manufactures electric bikes and trikes, supported by its own US-based warehouse and showroom. It’s largely a direct-to-consumer electric bike brand, but it has partners across the country for after-sales maintenance and rider support.

Why ride Addmotor e-Bikes?

Addmotor electric bikes and trikes are meant to be a good value for riders on a budget. Most of the brand’s e-Bikes are priced well under $2,000, and the e-trikes typically cost less than $3,000. There’s an incredibly wide— and I really mean it— variety of models to choose from, which most other direct-to-consumer brands don’t even come close to.

Most models have a powerful 750W rear hub motor and comfortable, relaxed riding geometries. Addmotor models also have speed differential axles, disc brakes on each wheel, and parking brakes, all of which are important features for the performance and safety of a pedal-assist trike. The components are decidedly entry-level and may require more maintenance over time. In the end, Addmotor focuses largely on affordability and accessible design rather than high-performance specifications.

Addmotor stands out most for its electric trikes for adults. There are very few electric tricycles on the market, and the fact that Addmotor has more than 20 different three-wheeled models sets it apart. There are semi-recumbent, cargo, two-person, full-suspension, and folding e-trikes! These accessible models can be especially great for older riders or cyclists with mobility issues. Even though I fall into neither of those categories, I have ridden e-trikes before, and they are a boatload of fun, that’s for sure.

Addmotor Soletan

The Addmotor Soletan M-66X is a full-suspension electric bike for adults, inspired by traditional mopeds. There’s a fixed bench seat that can squeeze in an additional passenger and a step-through design that’s easy to hop on and off. Front and rear suspension cushions the ride, and it's powered by a 750W rear hub motor that tops out at 20 mph. Simple, fun, and easy to use for one or two riders.

Addmotor Citypro

While the Addmotor fleet has plenty of unique models, the Citypro looks like your typical electric hybrid bike. It’s built around a mid-step frame with adjustable handlebars, front suspension, a rear rack, and 26 x 2.3" tires. The Citypro is powered by a 500W rear hub motor and a 15 Ah battery pack mounted to the frame, maxing out at 20 mph. A great choice for casual commuters and recreational riders looking for a comfortable and budget-friendly city bike.

Addmotor Foldtan

The Addmotor Foldtan is the brand’s dedicated folding electric bike. The compact e-Bike folds in the middle of the frame and along the handlebars to save space during transport and storage. It’s available in M-120, M-140, and M-160 model versions, which vary slightly in battery design, aesthetics, and price, but are each powered by a 750W rear hub motor and 15 Ah battery. The fat tires can take on all sorts of terrain, ideal for beach cruising and comfortable rides around town.

Addmotor Graoopro / Garootan Cargo

The Graoopro and Garootan models are Addmotor’s cargo e-Bike options. Both are long-tail electric cargo bikes featuring an extended rear rack that allows for easy carrying of bags, cargo, and passengers. The Garootan is slightly more compact with knobby fat tires and plenty of room for accessories. The Graoopro has a longer wheelbase and space for a second battery for additional range. There’s also a dual center kickstand and even more options for large, cargo-carrying add-ons. Perfect for families with kids and errand-runners who need a cargo bike to power their trips.

Addmotor Grandtan

The Addmotor Grandtan M-340 is an electric trike for adults with front suspension and a 750W rear hub motor. There are three fat tires— one in the front and two in the rear— for an ultra-stable and comfortable ride. The saddle has a backrest that’s ideal for riders with low mobility or back issues, in addition to front and rear baskets for easy storage. Perfect for senior riders or people looking for an accessible three-wheeler with powerful pedal assistance. The Addmotor Triketan and Addmotor Landan are also very similar electric tricycles with fat tires.

Addmotor Citytri

The Citytan is Addmotor’s most affordable electric trike. It’s actually a foldable e-trike, so it doesn’t take up quite as much space during storage or when transporting it via car. There are wide, knobby 3” tires for plenty of traction in all conditions and easy controls to ride assisted up to 20 mph.

Addmotor Citytri

The Addmotor Citytri E-310 is a slightly upgraded version of the Citytan, including a seat with a backrest and more adjustable handlebars. There’s a powerful 750W rear hub motor, 20 Ah battery, and a top speed of 20 mph. The e-trike also folds at the middle of the frame and handlebars.

Addmotor Arisetan

The Addmotor Arisetan is a semi-recumbent electric trike for adults with an adaptive geometry for certain riders. The reclined sitting position can significantly improve comfort for riders with certain mobility or physical restrictions, opening up the world of cycling to everyone. The three-wheeled design means the trike is stable when stopped, and the 750W rear hub motor assists up to 20 mph for seriously fun riding. Adaptive trikes and electric-assist models can be difficult to find, but Addmotor delivers a comfortable and accessible model for riders who require a special setup!

Addmotor Spytan

One of the most unique electric rides out there, the Addmotor Spytan is an e-trike with two wheels up front and one in the back. The reverse design could be exactly what you’re looking for and helps support cargo at the front of the trike. The Spytan is also foldable and includes a seat with a backrest. There’s a rear rack, front basket, and front cargo area to carry pets, big items, and all your ride essentials between the two front wheels for a truly special ride!

Addmotor Soletri / Herotri

The Addmotor Soletri and Herotri are moped-inspired electric tricycles for adults. Similar to the popular Soletan model, there’s full suspension and a fixed bench seat that fits two adult riders. It’s a stable ride that rides just like a moped, making it a convenient trike for the city and around town.

Addmotor Greattan

Another unique electric bike from Addmotor, the Greattan is a full suspension ride for ultimate comfort and cushion. It’s a traditional e-trike design with one wheel up front and two in the rear with two cargo baskets, but there’s rear suspension in addition to the front suspension fork. If you don’t mind the extra weight, this super-plush ride is hard to beat!

Addmotor Tandem

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an inline tandem tricycle before, but Addmotor delivers a surprise ride with the M-380 Tandem model. The frame has two entire seats and pedals for two riders, with the rear seat featuring a backrest for extra comfort. For riders who adventure in pairs, this truly unique electric ride could be exactly what you’re looking for!
