The Scott Silence: Premium Commuter E-Bike
It’s really important that, before we start discussing, this is not a normal commuter. This is a performance bike and such a unique concept. I was honestly so happy when it turned up on my desk for me to review.
It’s actually designed for commuting, urban riding, fitness, light shopping, and weekend rides more than anything. It’s fun, fast, and actually way more practical than you might think at first glance. Here’s what I love about it:

What Are The Components Like?
The components on this bike are better than my road racing bike at home, and that’s saying something. Just look at the beautiful carbon-fiber frame and aero-finishing kit. Not only is it fast, but it’s also stunning to look at. The wide 40c tires let it rip up not just tarmac but also cycle paths and light trails.
It comes with SRAM AXS wireless gearing. This is probably some of the best gearing you can buy these days, and it’s paired up with SRAM performance hydraulic disc brakes. You also get all the commuter goodies such as a front rack, integrated lighting, and even mudguards, and it still looks cracking with that internal cable routing!
Motor And Battery
For many brands, a city e-Bike's weight isn’t a bother. They just chuck a powerful motor on, and it will be ok, but Scott here has said, “ok we made the bike super light, how about we add a super light motor and battery?”
So, from TQ, the lightweight motor company is the TQ HPR50, which delivers 50 Nm of torque and pairs with a 360 Wh battery. It not only keeps the weight down and the bike feeling incredibly agile, but it makes for a more fun, movable bike.
I do want to discuss the range. On many websites, I have seen 75 miles with the range extender, but I really don’t think that is realistic. On the basic 360Wh battery, I would say 20 to 40 miles, with the extender 50 to 60 in good conditions.
Is The Scott Silence Comfortable?
A performance bike is generally not very comfortable. This mould has been broken a bit here, and they have put some time into making it more of a commuter-bike fit, just with great components. The riding position is nice, and the flat handlebars make it much nicer than a racing road bike.
