Cannondale’s been riding at the leading edge of mountain biking since the ‘80s and the brand’s current fleet of full-squish e-MTBs shows that they’ve still got it.

Cannondale and mountain biking go together like PB&J, my favorite trail-side snack. The long-standing brand boasts an impressive fleet of electric mountain bikes that are a smart way to increase your pedal power on the trail (that is, if energy-boosting PB&J sandwiches aren’t your thing).

Upway knows Cannondale’s high-quality e-Bikes first-hand and we frequently have popular models like the full-suspension Moterra in stock at great prices. But what is the best electric bike from Cannondale for trail shredders and off-road rippers? I’ve selected my preferred full-suspension e-Bikes that deliver top performance no matter what direction you’re pointing on the mountain.

Cannondale’s Best Full-Suspension E-Bikes

Cannondale has a well-rounded family of electric mountain bikes, including several full-suspension models and a hardtail e-MTB. There are a few distinct versions of Cannodale’s popular Moterra model with components adapted to different riding conditions and uses. Below are my favorite picks in Cannondale’s full-squish fleet, and I’ll mention the other models, too.

And if road and gravel e-Bikes are more your cup of tea, I recently published my list of the best Cannondale road and gravel models.

Cannondale Moterra Neo LT

My top pick within Cannondale’s full-squish range is the Moterra Neo LT enduro e-Bike. This model is the long-travel (hence the LT suffix) of the standard Moterra, slotting in with 170mm of front suspension travel and 165mm at the rear. Those generous specs are perfect for hard-hitting enduro eMTB riding and the Bosch Performance Line CX mid-drive motor means you can shuttle yourself up the mountain— discover remote spots not serviced by chair lifts or simply skip the queue!

This ultra-capable model is the brand’s longest-travel option and is equipped with all the right parts, including a carbon frame, RockShox suspension, and mullet wheel sizing. The beastly Bosch motor can boost rider output by up to 340% with a natural-feeling pedal-assist of up to 20 mph. More than your typical trail e-Bike, this enduro machine is ready for the toughest climbs and rowdiest descents. Plus, that red coil shock and bold paint job look fantastic.

🚴 Perfect for: Assisted enduro riding, shuttling yourself up the mountain, and chunky descents
⭐ Why I like it: The longer travel makes a big difference for riders looking to go big

Cannondale Habit Neo

Cannondale took their popular, do-it-all trail bike and stuck a Bosch motor on it, creating the Habit Neo electric mountain bike. The versatile full-squish setup features 140mm of travel up front and 130mm at the rear with big 29” wheels. If you ride a bit of everything and want more agility than the Moterra LT, this snappy electric bike feels at home on singletrack and technical trails.

Similar to the Moterra, the Habit Neo is powered by a Bosch Performance Line CX drive unit and has a 625 Wh battery housed in the downtube. The model is built around Cannondale’s Proportional Response Tuned Carbon frame for top-level performance. There are several build kits to choose from depending on your desired groupset and suspension components.

🚴 Perfect for: Technical, fun, and challenging trails
Why I like it: Do-it-all suspension specs, Bosch drive unit, and lively handling

Cannondale Moterra SL

Cannondale Moterra SL electric mountain bike

Perhaps the most exciting— and most award-winning— model in Cannondale’s full-sus lineup is the Moterra SL lightweight electric mountain bike. The SL stands for Super Light and the upgraded bike shaves weight with the latest Shimano drive unit and premium Fox suspension— though Cannondale claims the abbreviation could refer to Sunset Laps, Seriously Lively, or So Limitless (props for creativity).

The Moterra SL weighs in at around 45 lb and is slightly lighter in the smaller frame sizes— that’s around 12 pounds lighter than the standard Moterra and LT models. Those big weight savings help achieve a more efficient ride uphill and natural feeling handling on descents. The SL is powered by the Shimano EP8 mid-drive motor and has a 601 Wh battery that’s neatly integrated inside the downtube. Lightweight e-Bikes and e-MTBs are taking off in popularity and Cannondale is setting the bar high with this featherweight option with heavyweight performance and design.

🚴 Perfect for: Efficient climbing and technical trail descents
Why I like it: Huge weight savings and the latest Shimano EP8 motor

Honorable mentions

Other high-quality Cannondale models include the Moterra EQ and standard Moterra e-MTB. The standard Moterra model is available in aluminum or carbon frames and rocks a 160mm front and 150mm rear suspension setup. The EQ version is “equipped” with fenders and a rear rack for more of a fully loaded package that’s ready to commute or all-around capabilities.

Key Takeaways

  1. Cannondale’s e-MTBs suit all riders: From enduro-ready Moterra Neo LT to the lightweight Moterra SL, there’s a perfect full-suspension model for every trail.
  2. Top-tier motors for peak performance: Bosch and Shimano drive systems provide powerful, smooth pedal assist for climbing and descending.
  3. Get Cannondale e-Bikes at great prices: Upway frequently stocks top models, making buying a high-quality e-MTB and used electric bike more accessible.
