Owned by Giant, Momentum specializes in making urban commuters and city bikes. These bikes are generally less expensive than Giant’s name-brand bikes, but they benefit from a lot of the same tech that you will find on Giant electric bikes. This includes their Yamaha-powered motor and lightweight aluminum.

The Momentum Voya E+ is a great example of getting Giant tech at a lower price. At MSRP, this bike can sell for around $1,000 and includes a Yamaha motor and ALUXX aluminum. This makes it a fast and lightweight city bike for a much lower price than its contemporaries. The Momentum Voya E+ is an affordable way to power your ride.

What regular city bike features does the Voya E+ have?

If you don’t inspect it closely, the Momentum Voya E+ can easily be mistaken for a traditional non-electric city bike. Because it goes for the more natural approach, it needs to perform like an analog bike. Momentum was sure to pack it with true bike features to make sure it rides like a normal city bike. Choose the drop bar or flat bar variant to suit your needs.

  • Frame: Momentum used Giant’s classic ALUXX aluminum to make the frame of the Voya E+. This material features the perfect balance of low weight to high strength for city riding. The frame includes various mounting points for when you need to carry cargo. Cargo racks, bottle cages, and utility trays can all be mounted with ease.

  • City Convenience: Flat-mount hydraulic disc brakes pair with a wide tire clearance to make sure you have full control of your bike at all times. The rear triangle is also split, making sure that belt drives can be equipped by riders who prefer them. You can even mount a kickstand and locks when you need to leave your bike outside.

  • Geometry Options: There is a drop bar version and a flat bar version of the Voya E. Momentum designed two different geometries, making sure the drop bar version has a more aggressive and forward posture. The flat bar version is more relaxed, giving city riders a more upright riding position.

What electronics are on the Momentum Voya E+?

Despite its traditional bike look and feel, the Momentum Voya E+ is still full of e-Bike technology. It all starts with a Class 1 motor that keeps you moving confidently without taking over your ride. Momentum did a great job of making sure that the Voya E+ is as affordable as it is capable, making it accessible to a wide range of riders.

  • Drive Unit: Giant has a relationship with Yamaha where they team up to make a lot of their e-Bike motors. Momentum gets to benefit from this relationship as well, and they used a SyncDrive Move hub motor for this bike. It is compact and tucked away in the rear hub, offering 250 W of power in an ultra-lightweight package.

  • Battery: The EnergyPak lithium-ion battery is completely hidden in the downtube of the frame while providing up to 250 Wh of range. It comes with a 4A charger that completely recharges the battery in about 3.5 hours. It is a smart charger, meaning that you don’t have to worry about overcharging and degrading your battery.

  • Smart Tech: The Momentum Voya E+ includes smart sensors that track the rider’s cadence, speed, torque, and slope. These readings are used to tell the motor how much power to provide to keep a natural riding feel. These stats can be sent to a bike computer or watch through ANT+. The RideControl feature makes it easy to change modes and monitor battery life from a small strip and button on the top tube, integrating your system.
