Upway is already known for its high-quality electric bikes, and the catalog will now include regular bikes. Maybe you want a regular bicycle in addition to your pedal-assist ride, or simply haven’t caught the e-Bike bug just yet; Upway is the one-stop shop for deep discounts on pre-owned models.

Why is Upway expanding from e-Bikes to analog bikes?

The used bike market is a big one, and a large part of it revolves around non-motorized, regular bikes. Introducing regular bikes alongside electric bikes can increase Upway’s inventory, widen sourcing partners, and provide even more selection for buyers, all while helping give more bicycles a second life in the US. Upway already has the expertise and operational capabilities to certify and recondition e-Bikes with its UpCenters in New York City and Los Angeles, and can efficiently bring analog bikes into the fold.

Do regular bikes go through the same refurbishment process as e-Bikes?

Regular bikes follow largely the same servicing workflow as electric bikes in Upway UpCenters, with a few key differences. Mainly, these bikes don’t have electric components like motors, controllers, and batteries, so many procedures related to those parts aren’t required.

However, analog bikes— particularly higher-end models like performance road bikes or MTBs— tend to accumulate higher mileage over time. As a result, certain inspections, like ensuring the integrity of carbon frames, have to be completed even more rigorously compared to those of most e-Bikes. Regular bikes also have specific components, such as a standard bottom bracket and front derailleur, that aren’t as common on electric bikes and that require their own dedicated checks and maintenance procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are prices determined?

Our offer price is based on the retail value of your bike, its mileage, and market factors such as demand and seasonality for your model. We also factor in our own reconditioning costs so that the future owner can enjoy a bike in perfect condition, with a one-year warranty.

How does shipping work?

Once you accept our offer, you will need to prepare the bike for us to pick it up. Note that Upway offers a free box option if you need it and covers the shipping costs, how convenient! You will need to securely pack your bike to protect it during transport.

To box the bike, you have 3 options:

1. DIY: You can box it yourself. If you decide to go down this route, feel free to take a look at how we pack them ourselves.
2. Go to your local bike shop: You will have to drop it off there, and a fair price would be around $50-$100 (or you can ask them to recycle an old box).
3. You can order a box from Upway: We ship a packing kit for $50 to your door and handle the pickup for free. The $50 kit fee is waived for the most desirable bikes. Please note that the box takes around 3-4 days to arrive.

How does payment work?

After your bike passes inspection, you’ll receive an email from J.P. Morgan to accept your payment. You can choose bank transfer, Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle. If you don’t act within 30 days, we’ll mail you a check.

Will the offer I receive for my bike ever change?

If all the information you provided about your bike is correct, the price you received should not change.

Your offer is valid for 14 days. After this time, we cannot guarantee the price will stay the same, as our prices are dynamic and may change. If you'd like to track your bike’s value, you can subscribe to alerts on your offer page.

What happens once I ship my bike?

Once you ship your bike, you can easily follow its journey on our status page. You will be able to follow each major milestone:

 - We receive your bike at our facility.
 - The inspection is complete, and you can view the detailed inspection report.
 - Your payment has been sent.
