When it comes to premium electric e-MTBs, you can never overlook Santa Cruz. They make incredible e-Bikes which pull together performance, comfort, and great styling. The Heckler has been one of my favorites for a very long time.
It has a powerful motor and battery. The older versions used a Bosch motor, but recently they have switched over to a Shimano motor. Both, I feel, are excellent ways to help you get up a climb smoothly and while staying in control.
It weighs 21kg and has a wonderful set of components, including RockShox suspension, SRAM 12-speed gearing, and a carbon fiber frame. It's right at the top of the budget, with every penny in my opinion.

If you were to ask me what the most practical e-Bike you can buy is, I’d say the Tern GSD S10. It’s an incredible cargo bike which for many people can replace a car. It doesn’t just carry your weekly shopping. It can also carry the kids home from school or even be used to carry large parcels.
Unlike a lot of cargo bikes, which favor a rear hub motor and keep the components basic, the Tern uses a Bosch Cargo Line motor with 85 Nm of torque and dual battery options, giving a possibility of around 80 miles on a full charge if ridden well.
Surprisingly easy to ride for its size. If you do want something small, the Tern HSD is a great option as well. You really can’t beat the practicality of these fantastic Tern cargo bikes.

With a lightweight TQ motor and small battery, it’s not going to beat any power records. That’s the beauty of this e-Bike. It’s made to be efficient and focus on ride feel over the crazy torque, moped-style some companies go for.
If you like long days out on the bike, sportives, or just exploring your local roads, the Scott Solace is a great way of doing it. It’s premium performance, and there’s not much I’d change about it if I had it.

Which One Would I Buy?
If I had to choose one of these e-Bikes, I would go down the route of the riding I would want to do over the best e-Bike as far as the specifications go. The Heckler would be my off-road adventure choice, the Tern my practical day-to-day bike, and the Solace my road endurance e-Bike.
