Best E-Bike Trails in Fort Worth: Ride the Historic Wild West

Fort Worth is one of Texas’s most distinctive e-Bike riding destinations, blending an extensive riverside trail network with rich Wild West heritage. Known for the historic Stockyards, where cattle drives and old frontier culture still come to life, the city offers a unique and accessible e-bike riding experience.

​A key highlight is the Trinity Trails network, a 100-mile system of interconnected paths following the Trinity River. These flat, scenic routes link parks, downtown Fort Worth, and major attractions, including the Stockyards, making them perfect for beginners, families, and cargo bikes.

Riders can explore shorter loops, such as the Trinity River Trail at Rotary Park, or take on longer routes heading towards Benbrook Lake and the Fort Worth Nature Center. These extended rides offer a mix of city, river, and open landscape scenery, ideal for full-day or even overnight e-bike adventures.

​For those looking for more of a challenge, Fort Worth also offers a selection of natural-surface mountain bike trails, with options ranging from beginner-friendly pump tracks to more technical singletrack routes.

​Fort Worth follows the three-class e-Bike system (Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3), with e-Bikes generally treated like traditional bicycles on roads and bike paths, though Class 3 e-Bikes may face additional restrictions on certain trails.

When considering e-Biking trails in Fort Worth, look no further than the Trinity Trails. These are a 100-mile network and spideweb of scenic multi-use trails following the Trinity River in Fort Worth, perfect for relaxed riding on electric city bikes, cargo bikes transporting kids, and even kids on bikes. The route connects 21 parks to downtown Fort Worth and key attractions such as Panther Island, the historic Stockyards Log Cabin Village, Fort Worth Water Gardens, Benbrook Lake, and Fort Worth Zoo.

Just get your trail map and meander around this highly flexible heritage trail, taking in scenic city views, heritage, and all the attractions and entertainment Fort Worth has to offer.

For Panther Island, try the 2.5-mile Trinity Trail Loop at Rotary Park. This is a fully paved, mainly flat, loop which is at least 8 feet wide, making it great for Class 1 e-Bikes, cargo bikes, and electric city bikes.

For a longer, scenic trip on the Trinity Trails, try the Fort Worth to Benbrook Lake(a Reservoir in the Tarrant Regional Water District), on the Clear Fork of the Trinity River. The 37.5 -mile trip (one way) is a long, all-day e-Bike ride or overnight excursion with about 700 ft of elevation gain, suitable for Class 1 and Class 2 e-Bikes.

Either way, this will suit a long distance electric bike and will require careful planning of battery range and recharging points. Benbrook Lake has two campsites: South Holiday Campground and Bear Creek Camp with electric hookups so you can overnight charge your e-Bikes. The beautiful Baja Beach is within walking distance, and there are plenty of wildlife watching opportunities, too.

This 31.3-mile loop to the Fort Worth Nature Center has 831 feet of elevation gain but should be a relatively comfortable ride on a Class 1 or Class 2 electric bike or city bike. The Fort Worth Nature Center is a heritage attraction, made up of forests, grand prairies, and wetlands, taking you back to what it was like in the early 20th century. Take part in guided, educational tours or scenic canoeing, or even self-guided hikes using our trail maps.

This is a 13-mile route that has about 500 feet of elevation gain and takes you around the City of Fort Worth Stockyard, an unmissable and immersive historic adventure through the old wild west. It is a comfortable all-day excursion which can be completed in about 45 minutes (one way) at a leisurely pace. This makes it suitable for a day trip on cargo bikes transporting kids, or a leisurely city bike ride.

The Fort Worth Mountain Bikers Association has prepared a list of four of the best e-mountain bike natural-surface trail systems in the Fort Worth Area.

This trail system is more of a jump park with routes for all skill levels, from beginner to expert. There is a family-friendly pump track that is suitable for beginners on mountain bikes and fat tire electric bikes. El Chapo, The Table, and Columbia offer easy, intermediate, and black level jumps, respectively.

This trail includes several interconnecting loops that wind around both sides of Fossil Creek. This is a gnarly, windy, high-speed trail with step sections for advanced e-MTB riders.

This trail has two loops, one on the west (mostly flat terrain) and one on the east side (hilly terrain) of the Trinity River.

This is perhaps the most scenic trail, including several interconnecting loops that snake through a wood with scenic views of Lake Worth. This trail is for intermediate to advanced-level mountain bike riders.
