What Are ALSO E-Bikes? Newcomer Brand Breakdown
Written by: Kazim Ladimeji | June 20, 2026 | Time to read 6 min
A new player is about to enter the premium electric bike market. Backed by Rivian and packed with big claims around range, power, and technology, ALSO Bikes is generating plenty of interest. Let's take a closer look.

More about the Author: Kazim Ladimeji
Kazim is a UK-based cyclist and writer who discovered his passion for riding during lockdown six years ago and hasn’t looked back since. He now rides around 100 miles a week, exploring road and light gravel routes from his base in the Cotswolds, a cycling paradise. When he’s not riding or writing about e-Bike trails in the US, he’s exploring cafés, cooking, and keeping busy as a soccer dad

ALSO Bikes is one of the newest names in the electric bike world, emerging from the Rivian incubator with a focus on premium Class 3 electric bikes designed for urban riders, commuters, and light cargo users. The Upway Team discovered ALSO bikes and team at SeaOtter 2026 and it really interested us, that’s why I am taking a deep dive and update on the brand now.
On paper, the ALSO bike specifications look impressive. Long battery range, powerful acceleration, integrated navigation, cargo capability, and a highly customizable design all suggest ALSO is targeting riders who want a premium, all-in-one mobility solution.
However, as a newcomer brand, there are still some unknowns around ride quality, reliability, and long-term ownership experience.
In this article, I'll break down what ALSO Bikes offers, who the bikes are best suited to, and whether it's worth joining the waiting list or shopping for alternatives available today.
👋 Welcome to Upway!

How and where can I buy an ALSO e-Bike?
You can't actually buy an ALSO e-Bike at the moment; you can only reserve one with a $50 fully refundable deposit. Once you have paid your deposit, ALSO will contact you when an electric bike becomes available, at which point you can purchase the bike for $3,500. They plan to offer financing options via Chase Slate.
ALSO doesn’t provide a delivery date, so if you can't wait, check out our range of stylish, ergonomic, and professionally refurbished e-cargo bikes, e-city bikes, and e-mountain bikes that offer similar functionality and ride comfort to the ALSO e-Bike.
What's so good about ALSO bikes?
What I like about ALSO's potential offering is that they are trying to be the "Apple" of electric bikes. I am not an Apple guy, personally, but I respect what they do.
And I do appreciate Apple's family-of-products philosophy (just not the lock-in aspect), and I think ALSO is emulating this convenient product ecosystem approach by offering not just an e-bike, but also a state-of-the-art helmet, (which looks great, like something from the TRON movie and is highly visible at night), an ALSO MIK HD rear rack for cargo and child transport, and three different seat options.
It's well thought out and innovative, coming with integrated lights on the front and rear, which can also be seen from the side, which I think is really smart. Plus, a speedometer, integrated sat nav, and bike computer, all of which are extremely welcome features.
It's also highly customizable in terms of color, seat type, fenders, tires, and riding position.
For a premium price of $3,500, you get a custom-finished, hit-the-ground-riding electric city bike and light cargo bike with excellent safety features and accessories, designed to serve the urban active rider and commuter while also handling light weekend trail duties thanks to its front suspension.
