How to Find the Serial Number and Model Year of a Cannondale Bike

Cannondale tells you exactly what its serial number looks like, so you’ll know it when you see it. E-Bike owners just need to know where the motor has moved it.

Finding the Barcode Sticker
On modern Cannondale bikes, the serial number is on a barcode sticker under the bottom bracket shell, between the pedals. Cannondale says it should be two letters followed by five numbers, so seven characters in total. The barcode only has vertical lines, so if you’re looking at a QR code, you’ve got the wrong sticker.
Where It Hides on a Cannondale E-Bike

Cannondale e-Bikes with a mid-drive motor often have the serial number sticker in a different spot. Depending on the model, look on the seat tube behind the motor or the down tube in front of it.
This includes the Moterra Neo mountain bike, Tesoro Neo city bike, and Synapse Neo, all of which have Bosch mid-drive motors. I’d check both spots before assuming the sticker’s missing.
Stickers That Aren’t the Serial Number
You’ll probably spot a few other stickers with numbers or QR codes on your down tube. Unless it’s a barcode with two letters and five numbers, it isn’t the serial number.
The QR code sticker on the top tube isn’t the serial number either, but it’s still handy. Scan it with your phone, and it takes you to the Cannondale app or the registration page. If the app shows a different number, use the one on the barcode under the bottom bracket.
Working Out the Model Year

The quickest way to figure out your Cannondale’s model year is to check the catalogs in its online Bike Archive. They go back to 2008, so they cover most Cannondale e-Bikes. Find your bike’s model name, then compare the paint and parts year by year until you find a match.
If your bike’s in the Cannondale app, you can look up its model info there too. If you’re still not sure, contact Cannondale Customer Service with your serial number and some photos.
Registering Your Cannondale
Once you’ve found the serial number, I’d register your Cannondale if you haven’t already. It locks in your warranty on the frame, wheels, suspension, and more. Cannondale also uses it to send you updates on upgrades, repairs, and service.
The easiest way is to scan the QR code on the top tube. You’ll need the serial number, model, size, purchase date, and your bike shop’s details ready.
Selling or Buying a Cannondale
If you’re selling your Cannondale to us, dig out the receipt while you’re hunting for the serial number. We don’t require it for our selling form, but uploading it can speed up your quote. The model year helps too, since it plays a big part in what your e-Bike is worth.
If you’re buying, we also sell pre-owned Cannondales, and we give every bike on Upway a 50-point inspection before listing it. We only list bikes with batteries at 80% or more of their original capacity. Your bike is shipped to you with our one-year warranty, and you have two weeks to send it back.
