What are Upway's acceptance criteria?
We accept all electric bikes manufactured after 2014.
However, we only accept certain brands with certified Lithium-Ion batteries for both quality and safety reasons. Your bike must not show any structural damage (e.g., cracked frame). You must have the battery, its charger, and any keys (battery or frame lock) in your possession.
How are prices determined?
Our offer price is based on the retail value of your bike, its mileage, and market factors such as demand and seasonality for your model. We also factor in our own reconditioning costs so that the future owner can enjoy a bike in perfect condition, with a one-year warranty.
How does shipping work?
Once you accept our offer you will need to prepare the bike for us to pick it up. Note that Upway offers a free box option if you need and covers for the shipping costs, how convenient! You will need to securely pack your bike, in order to protect it during transport.
To box the bike you have 3 options:
1. DIY - you can box it yourself, if you decide to go down this route feel free to take a look at how we do pack them ourselves (here).
2. Go to your local bike shop - you will have to drop it off there and a fair price would be around $50-$100 (please note that you can ask them to recycle an old box).
3. You can order a box through us for FREE: we have partnered with Bikeflights to provide you a free option, please note that the box will be shipped after you place the order and it will take 2-5 business days to arrive.
How does payment work?
Once you have accepted our offer, we will ask you to securely enter your bank details (ACH routing and account numbers). After the bike has been received at our UpCenter and the arrival inspection has been validated, we will process the payment transfer within 24 hours.
