Coast-to-coast sourcing
Upway sources bikes from everywhere in the 48 contiguous states, either from individual customers or business partners. This sourcing involves plenty of logistics and shipping coordination, especially since e-Bikes are large and heavy items— simply put, proximity is a perk.
Having an UpCenter in California— one of the biggest hotspots for e-Bikes— allows us to form excellent relationships with more brands, bike shops, and individuals around the West Coast. Sourcing e-Bikes from bike businesses
- Bike Shops: These bikes can be demo units, fleets, rentals, or leftover inventory from previous seasons.
- Brands: These e-Bikes are typically demo fleets and returns from top bike manufacturers. Some models are so-called “blemished” bikes which are bikes that the brand can’t sell as new anymore due to minor defects (which Upway can professionally recondition).
- Other businesses: Sources include bike rental companies, leasing companies, and any other business that utilizes an e-Bike fleet for their operations.
Sourcing e-Bikes from individuals
When sourcing electric bikes from individual customers, Upway has a couple of different options:
- Sell directly to Upway: You can sell your used electric bike directly to Upway via our website. Simply share the details of your e-Bike in this form and we’ll follow up with an offer, coordinating all the steps necessary to get the bike to us. Shipping or in-person pick-up is on us and we’ll get you paid ASAP!
- Trade-in: You can trade in your used e-Bike at one of our participating partner bike shops. In return, you’ll receive a voucher to buy a new e-Bike at that store. Just swing by in-store and the bike shop will handle everything for you!
Upway accepts a wide range of e-Bikes, but not every bike makes the cut. All bikes need to be in working order with a fully intact frame (no cracks or structural damage) and must have all the original components, including things like keys, batteries, and chargers.
