Canyon Model Naming Conventions

When looking through Canyon’s lineup, the model names might feel like a jumble of letters and numbers. But those names aren’t random—they actually reveal details about the bike’s components and features at a glance.

Each bike starts with a core frame family name—like Spectral, Grizl, or Neuron—while the suffixes that follow point to specific characteristics. Remember that the addition of “:ON” indicates the model is an electric bike. Here’s a quick guide to what Canyon model suffixes mean:

  • “Fly” series: These are lightweight e-Bikes designed to look and feel like traditional bikes, with lighter motor options and a more intuitive and natural boost.
  • Frame material: CFR stands for “Canyon Factory Racing”, indicating the brand’s most advanced carbon fiber frame. CF is the standard carbon layup and may come in SLX or SL frame options.
  • Number: There’s often a number at the end of the model name, indicating the build spec of that specific version. The bigger the number, the more premium the component tier.

What class are Canyon electric bikes?

Canyon primarily offers Class 1 and Class 3 e-Bikes.

  • Class 1 e-Bikes are pedal-assist only, providing motor support while pedaling up to 20 mph.
  • Class 2 e-Bikes, or “throttle-assist” bikes, share the same 20 mph limit but can also be powered without pedaling.
  • Class 3 e-Bikes, or “speed pedelecs,” assist pedaling up to 28 mph. They are typically road-legal but often require helmets and have age restrictions—check your local laws before riding.
