Choosing between Orbea and Cube isn’t about which brand is better. It’s about what you expect from your bike and how you want it to feel when you're riding.

Choosing between Orbea and Cube is like getting dressed and having to pick between chinos and cargo pants. They both do the same thing, but the chinos are super comfortable and look incredible, and the cargos are rugged and super practical with loads of pockets.
This article is going to pick Orbea and Cube to pieces and compare them so you know what's right for you. I will compare overall, then look at where the big differences really are. Let’s take the opportunity to get you a new bike.

What Is The History Of Orbea And Cube?

Well, both these brands have completely different backgrounds. Did you know that Orbea has been around since 1840 and was started in Spain? Well, they have, just not making bikes. Originally, it started with firearms and then slowly moved to bikes. The bike could be called a performance weapon, I guess.
Cube started in 1993 in Germany. They were heavily focused on bringing bikes to the masses at super affordable, great-value-for-money prices. They have done just that and, to this day, still stick to the ethos. Cube is a well-respected brand, and I would happily ride it. It’s not seen as budget. It’s actually seen as high quality, and I agree.

Orbea Vs Cube, Premium Design Vs Maximum Value

Orbea is really big on how the bike feels to ride. This shows in the innovation they have and in the focus on not just being different, but on offering the rider something a little more than just a frame with components on. You can feel this attention to detail on long rides. The bikes and the geometry just feel really refined, and you can tell the difference compared to other brands.
Cube is more about value. They are not investing hundreds of millions in innovation and new technology. They are focusing on proven designs that work and keep them as best value while still on top components. The bikes are not bad to ride at all, and you get a lot for your money, but you will very rarely see any new technology coming from them.

Bike Customization vs Off-the-Shelf Simplicity

One thing Orbea is very good at is customizing its bikes. On certain models, including e-Bikes, you can customize them to your needs. You can tweak the bike's colors, specs, and other features to make it uniquely yours. Makes it feel like you're riding a unicorn which you designed, haha.
Cubes are off-the-shelf bikes more than anything. They have their sizes, specification levels, and they stick to them. This might sound more limiting, but it keeps it simple and, in turn, keeps pricing a lot lower for you and them in the long run.

Which Is Better Value For Money, Cube Or Orbea?

Cube is amazing when it comes to pricing. If you were to take a traditional road bike of theirs with, say, a Shimano 105 Groupset and basic aluminum wheels, and put it up against 95% of bike brands, they would more than likely be a much lower cost.
With Orbea, you do have to spend more, but you get a refined ride. If you plan to spend 10-20 hours on it a week, that does make a massive difference and can be worth the extra spend in the long run.

Which Has Better Components, Cube Or Orbea?

When it comes to components, both brands use top-tier components, such as Shimano and Bosch. When you look at the specs again, we can see that Orbea is more focused on ride feel and performance than on value.

All this being said, they both focus on quality components from brands such as Shimano, Bosch, and others. You definitely get great value for money when you buy from either brand.

A Final Thought: Orbea Vs Cube

Choosing between these two brands is challenging. For me, as silly as this sounds, if you want your own unicorn, then buy at a higher price and customize an Obrea. If you want a solid Toyota with loads of features, then buy a Cube.

Frequently Asked Questions
