Haibike vs Lectric: Key Differences

Haibike is the better choice if you want:

  • A serious electric mountain bike from the brand that invented the category.
  • Mid-drive motor performance with Bosch, Yamaha, or Pinion drive systems.
  • A bike that can handle technical terrain, long climbs, and demanding descents.

Lectric is the better choice if you want:

  • An affordable, practical e-Bike for commuting, errands, or casual riding.
  • A folding or fat-tire design that’s easy to store and transport.
  • The best-selling e-Bike in America without the expensive price tag.

Brand Overview

Haibike

Haibike has been in the electric mountain bike game longer than almost anyone. Back in 2010, the brand worked out how to properly integrate a Bosch motor into a mountain bike frame, giving the bike enough ground clearance and balance to work well off-road. That was the moment the modern e-MTB was born. Since then, Haibike has made nothing but electric bikes, building a reputation on trail performance, motor variety, and a lineup that spans everything from entry-level trekking to serious enduro riding.

The brand is based in Schweinfurt, Bavaria, and has been part of the Accell Group since KKR’s 2022 acquisition. Susanne Puello, one of the very few female CEOs in cycling, has run it since 1995.

Lectric

Lectric was founded in 2019 in Phoenix, Arizona, by two childhood friends, Levi Conlow and Robby Deziel, who met playing video games in middle school. They launched their first bike, the Lectric XP, as a folding fat-tire e-Bike at an accessible price point, and it took off fast. By 2023, Lectric had become the best-selling e-Bike brand in North America. They held that title in 2024, too.

The brand bases its success on building a good e-Bike, keeping the price low, and making it easy to buy online and use straight out of the box with no dealers or complicated specs. In 2025, Lectric also acquired the Juiced Bikes brand, signaling that the founders have bigger ambitions beyond the budget segment.

Lectric bikes are made in China and Cambodia. That’s how the price stays low, and it’s worth knowing.

Price and Value

This is where the contrast is most obvious.

Haibike’s range starts around $3,500 for entry-level trekking models and climbs to $6,500 for mid-spec electric mountain bikes, with top-spec carbon builds going higher still. These are serious bikes with serious price tags, and the performance justifies the price for riders who will use them.

Lectric’s entire lineup sits under $1,700. The XP Lite 2.0 starts at $799. The XP4 standard is $999. The XPedition 2.0 cargo e-Bike starts at $1,399.

Certified pre-owned Haibike e-Bikes and Lectric e-Bikes on Upway are both available at up to 60% off retail. For Haibike in particular, buying used through Upway is often the most practical way to access the brand at a more manageable price.

Motor and Performance

Haibike uses mid-drive motors from Bosch and Yamaha on its trail and trekking models, with the Pinion MGU on the flagship AllMtn CF TRN/IQ.

Lectric bikes use hub motors throughout. The XP4 now comes with an in-house torque sensor as standard, as do the XPress and Lectric ONE. Some other models in the range use cadence sensors, so the motor kicks in when you start pedaling.

For off-road riding and climbing performance, Haibike’s mid-drive systems are much better. For commuting, flat terrain, and everyday use, Lectric’s hub motors are more than capable.

Battery and Range

Haibike’s trail models have large batteries, with range-extender compatibility on several models. Trekking models use smaller batteries better suited to everyday riding.

Lectric’s batteries are removable, which is useful if you can’t charge where you park. The XP4 standard claims up to 50 miles of range. The XPedition 2.0 cargo e-Bike can take dual batteries for up to 170 miles under optimal conditions, which is remarkable at this price point.

Haibike’s larger batteries and more efficient mid-drive motors are better suited for longer, more demanding rides. Lectric’s batteries will give you the spec sheet’s stated range when you ride on flat ground at moderate speeds.

Ride Quality and Comfort

Haibike’s electric mountain bikes are great for riding hard on technical terrain. The AllMtn range has enduro-oriented geometry for high performance on both technical climbs and descents. Trekking e-Bikes, such as the ADVENTR, put you in a comfortable upright position suited to mixed-surface riding and longer days in the saddle.

Lectric bikes are more accessible and practical. The XP4’s folding e-Bike design absorbs bumps in the road reasonably well and is comfortable enough for daily commuting. The XPeak 2 is Lectric’s most capable off-road model, with a suspension fork and fat tires suited to dirt roads, light trails, and rougher urban surfaces. It’s not a trail bike in the Haibike sense, but you’re not limited to just riding on paved roads.

Design and Features

Haibike trail bikes have internal cable routing, Bosch app connectivity, and nothing else you don’t need on the trail. The ADVENTR trekking range takes a more practical approach, arriving with lights, fenders, and a rear rack already fitted for daily use.

Lectric is different in almost every way. Racks, lights, and fenders come standard because that’s what most everyday riders need. The XP4 folds down in under a minute, which is handy if storage is tight or you want to carry your e-Bike on public transport. The XPedition 2.0 goes further with a heavy-duty rear rack and a color LCD display built for riders who use their bike as a workhorse. It’s also good to know that hydraulic disc brakes come standard across Lectric’s entire lineup.

Which Brand Should You Choose?

If you’re a mountain biker looking for a serious e-MTB, Lectric probably isn’t what you need. If you’re looking for an affordable, no-fuss commuter e-Bike for errands or casual riding, Haibike is almost certainly overkill. But if you’re somewhere in the middle, trying to figure out what kind of rider you are, or what you actually need from an electric bike, this comparison is worth doing.

Go with Haibike if mountain biking is your thing, or if you want a capable trekking e-Bike for mixed terrain and longer rides.

Go with Lectric if you want a reliable, practical e-Bike without spending a lot of money. For commuting, errands, casual weekend rides, or just trying out electric cycling for the first time, Lectric is hard to beat at the price.
