Neither is definitively better. Haibike offers more motor options and more focus on e-MTBs, while Cube offers a wider e-MTB range and stronger mid-range value.

Both brands are German. Both are from Bavaria. Both have been building Bosch-powered e-Bikes for over a decade. So why do Haibike and Cube feel like such different brands?

Haibike vs Cube: Key Differences
Haibike is the better choice if you want:
- A pure e-Bike specialist with more variety in motor systems across the range.
- A long-standing e-MTB brand with trail and trekking options at the mid-range level.
Cube is the better choice if you want:
- A wider range across every riding category, from trail e-MTBs to commuter and road bikes.
- Strong mid-range value and a Bosch-powered lineup that’s consistent and easy to service.
Brand Overview

Haibike
Haibike was founded in 1995 in Schweinfurt, Bavaria, by Susanne Puello and her husband Felix. Susanne’s great-grandfather started a bicycle company in the same city in 1914, and Susanne is one of the very few female CEOs in the cycling industry. The brand defined itself at Eurobike 2010 by rotating the Bosch motor upward and integrating it into the frame, creating the first e-Bike with sufficient ground clearance to go off-road properly. That decision created the modern e-MTB. Haibike now sells e-Bikes exclusively and has been part of the Accell Group since KKR’s acquisition in 2022.
Cube
Cube was founded in 1993 in Waldershof, Bavaria, by Marcus Pürner, starting with 50 square meters in a corner of his father’s furniture factory. Today, the brand sells over a million bikes worldwide each year.
Cube is an official partner of one of my local bike parks, Bike Park Les Gets, a regular host of UCI Mountain Bike World Cup rounds. Unlike Haibike, Cube has run Bosch across its entire e-Bike lineup since 2014, which keeps servicing simple and the experience consistent wherever you ride.
One note for US buyers: Cube’s dealer network in North America is thinner than in Europe, so finding local support can take more effort than it would with Haibike.
Price and Value
Motor and Performance
Haibike uses several motor systems. Most trail models use a full-power Bosch or Yamaha motor. The flagship AllMtn CF TRN/IQ uses a combined motor-and-gearbox unit with a belt drive rather than a derailleur. Trekking models use a less powerful Bosch motor better suited to commuting and recreational riding. Having multiple motor options gives Haibike greater flexibility across the range, but it also means the servicing experience varies depending on which system your bike runs.
Cube has Bosch motors on everything. Trail models use the same full-power Bosch motor as Haibike’s top trail bikes. Commuter and trekking models use a less powerful Bosch motor better suited to daily riding. For trail riding, both brands deliver the same thing on comparable models.

Battery and Range
Haibike’s trail models feature large batteries for full days on the trails, and some bikes are range-extender compatible. Trekking models use smaller packs, plenty for commuting and recreational rides.
Cube uses the same Bosch battery platform for the entire range. Trail models use a large battery suited to sustained riding. The cross-country ONE22 comes with either a standard or a larger battery, depending on the spec. The batteries on trekking models are sized for daily use, with a range extender option on some. Both brands give you enough for a full day on the trail.
Ride Quality and Comfort
Haibike’s trail and all-mountain bikes suit riders who want to climb hard and descend harder. Trekking models take a different approach entirely, with a comfortable riding position suited to longer days on mixed terrain.
The Cube Stereo Hybrid ONE range is quite interesting as it runs from cross-country to full enduro, with a model for every level of trail rider. The Reaction Hybrid hardtail is there for lighter XC and trail use.
On comparable trail models, the performance gap between the two brands is minimal. If you want to understand how different e-Bike types compare, Upway’s electric bike buyer’s guide is a useful starting point.
Design and Features
Haibike uses internal cable routing throughout its range. Trail models connect to the Bosch app so you can customize the assistance levels. The ADVENTR trekking range comes with lights, fenders, and a pannier rack. Trail models skip these extras.
Cube has been improving frame integration with internal cable routing across the Stereo Hybrid ONE range and a built-in connector system for lights on higher-spec models. The Kathmandu Hybrid is for daily riding and comes with lights, fenders, and a pannier rack already fitted.
