Does Upway accept all kinds of e-Bikes?

We can only accept electric bikes manufactured after 2017. For quality and safety purposes, we accept models from top brands with certified lithium-ion batteries. We cannot accept electric bikes that have cracks or major dents to the frame or fork. For other issues related to the electrical components and other parts, please detail them in your description in the selling form. We do not accept “custom” e-Bikes. We reserve the right to refuse any electric bikes.

What information should I share about the bike?

We ask that you accurately describe the condition of your electric bike, including things like any scratches, total mileage, time of last service, and more, so we can send you a fully informed offer. Upway’s selling form asks for specific information, making it easy to fill out and provide us with all relevant details.

Upon receiving the bike, we inspect it and make sure it matches your description before payment. If the condition of the bike does not match your description, we will contact you with the next steps. If the issues are repairable, we will offer an updated purchase price. But if the problems are beyond a certain level, we will contact you to arrange for the bike to be transported back at your own cost.

How do I find the total mileage of my bike?

Before selling your e-Bike to Upway, it's important to know its total mileage. For electric bikes with a display, navigating to the odometer page will typically show the total mileage somewhere on the screen. For bikes that don't have a screen, including many models from Specialized or Giant, you can easily check the total mileage reading using the smartphone app that connects with the bike. This Upway article includes specific directions for the most common brands.

How do I ship my electric bike?

The easiest and cheapest method is to order a box through us for free! We have our own boxes that we can ship to you for free (there's a $50 refundable deposit). Please note that the box will be shipped after you accept the offer, and it will take 2-5 business days to arrive. Remember to include the battery, all keys to the bike, and the charger in the box. Then we’ll arrange the shipment, and the carrier will show up on the scheduled day to pick up your bike.

You can also box the bike yourself or go to your local bike shop and have them do it.

What do I need to include with my e-Bike?

When shipping the bike, be sure to include the battery, the charger, and the keys. We cannot accept any electric bike that is missing these critical components. If we receive a bike without any of these components, the cost of procuring that part will be deducted from your final payout. You can also send any additional parts or accessories, like racks, lights, or bells, though they will not affect your quote.

Can I get Upway credit when selling my bike?

Upway issues you a cash payment rather than store credit when you sell to us. That said, when you sell your used electric bike, you'll receive a $150 promo code to purchase another bike on Upway. Upway’s Trade-In Program offers in-store credit at participating partner bike shops across the country.
