Anaheim houses both the Angel Stadium (East Anaheim) and the Disneyland Resort (Platinum Triangle), making the area a big draw for families, many of whom will be looking to engage in easy e-Bike and cargo bike rides as part of a well-timed break from the parks.

Located in the heart of Orange County, the Anaheim bike trail network is characterized by well-maintained inland river routes and coastal paths, including the iconic Marvin Braude Bike Trail that takes in the world-famous Venice Boardwalk, as well as several local heritage trails, such as the historic Etiwanda Pacific Electric Railway Depot

If you’re after something a little more adventurous, there are also several longer-distance routes to explore. Some even bring you close to the Anaheim Hills area, where you can branch off onto trails like the Anaheim Hills Park Trail Loop for a more rugged, fat-tire electric bike experience.

What are the best e-Bike trails in Anaheim?

Santa Ana River Trail

At just under 60 miles, this e-Bike trail in Anaheim is the longest trail in the Southern California Region. The Santa Ana River Trail runs through the counties of Orange County, Riverside County, and San Bernardino and provides a great opportunity for an all-day, relaxed e-Bike ride. However, at this length, you may need to carry a spare battery and trail maps for good measure. Reports suggest that it can get hot on route as it's very exposed, so hydration and sun protection should be planned carefully. There’s plenty of wildlife to see on this trail, and the route takes you past Anaheim Coves, a 26-acre nature reserve, by the wooden Santa Ana River Trail Bridge and through Mount Rubidoux, which is a city park and a stunning landmark.

Santiago Creek Trail

The Santiago Creek Loop is a spirited 28-mile circular route which has significant elevation gain. The trail starts at the border of Anaheim and takes you around the neighboring Orange County. Estimated to be around 3 hours long, the route takes you along a scenic stretch of the Santa Ana River before looping back around through the more testing Anaheim hills near the Oak Canyon Nature Center, and past the epic sight of the Santiago Creek Recharge Basin. More experienced riders with fat tire electric bikes can access the off-road Anaheim Hills Park Trail Loop for a more challenging ride.

Marvin Braude Bike Trail

This 21-mile coastal bike trail is one of the most scenic routes in Southern California. Known as ‘The Strand’ by the locals, the iconic Marvin Braud Trail follows the Los Angeles County coastline, making it a relaxed e-Bike ride with very little elevation gain. It has some interesting stops on route, such as the Ballona Creek Bike Path, Santa Monica Pier, and the Venice Boardwalk (a 2-mile-long bohemian boulevard full of entertainment), which is ideal for a mid-ride stop. This is one of the most entertaining and well-maintained electric bike trails in Southern California, with lots of paved surfaces for smooth riding, well-suited to Class 1 or Class 2 e-Bikes.

Pacific Electric Inland Empire Trail

Easily reachable from the City of Anaheim, this extremely relaxed 20-mile route is one of the region's most historic electric bike trails, taking you through Southern California's Inland Empire metropolitan region. This trail is well-maintained given its location, and the surface is a mix of paved and crushed stone. The trail takes you through a small shopping precinct (which hosts a Farmer’s market on Saturdays), and past Rancho Cucamonga Central Park with playground, fun gravel trails, and striking mountain views. The trail also passes by the historic Etiwanda Pacific Electric Railway Depot. Again, this route is loaded with entertainment and is extremely family-friendly and a perfect route for Class 1 e-Bikes and cargo Bikes with tagalongs. Again, build in time to enjoy the many attractions on route.

San Diego Creek Trail

At around 10 miles, the San Diego Creek Trails is a great family option for a relaxed day out on electric bikes. The trail has fully paved surfaces throughout and is very well maintained with scenic views. What’s good about this route is that it is the spine of the local area’s network of bike trails, and you can easily extend and connect with shorter tourist trails such as the University Trail or Peters Canyon Bikeway, enabling you to explore the Peters Canyon Regional Park. There are plenty of shaded areas and community and park facilities on route. This e-Bike trail in Anaheim is another great option for families looking for ease of use and route flexibility, and will suit Class 1 electric bikes.

Huntington Beach Bicycle Trail

This 8-mile trail is another family-friendly route near the City of Anaheim which is ideal for electric bikes. It runs alongside Huntington State Beach, one of the most populous beaches in Orange County. It’s paved and can be very wide at points, making it great for families transporting kids on electric bikes and cargo e-Bikes, which is great as there’s room to transport your beach gear! The Huntington State Beach area is very popular for families with small children, so this could be a great option for your first family adventure ride out on a Class 1 e-Bike. This route connects with the Santa Ana River Trail at the southern end, meaning you can easily extend the route if desired.
