👋 Welcome to Upway!
What Is the Electra Ponto Go!?
Electra is Trek's comfort-focused sub-brand. The Townie is their most iconic model, and they've been refining it for years. The Ponto Go! is a completely different kind of bike, and before you decide whether it's right for you, you need to understand exactly what it is.
Specs and What You Get
One size fits most riders, with the frame and geometry designed to accommodate a wide range of heights. Here's what the bike includes:
- 750W BEP rear hub motor with 60Nm of torque and a torque sensor
- 650Wh removable and lockable battery
- Class 3: pedal assist up to 26 mph, thumb throttle up to 20 mph
- MicroShift 8-speed drivetrain with trigger shifter
- Tektro E395 hydraulic disc brakes
- 20x4-inch heavy-duty fat tires
- 80mm travel coil spring suspension fork
- Extended bench seat and rear rack for a passenger
- Fold-out passenger foot pegs
- Integrated fenders
- Turn signals, front and rear lights
- Trek Central app compatible
- 2-amp charger included

How It Rides
When you get on the Ponto Go! for the first time, you'll notice how planted it is, thanks to the wide stance and low center of gravity. At 75lbs, it's heavy, and you notice that at low speeds or when maneuvering in tight spaces. But once you're moving, the weight isn't a problem, and the bike becomes easier to manage.
The riding position is relaxed and upright, and the swept-back handlebars and forward pedal position come from the Flat Foot geometry style you see on the Townie. So most riders can put their feet flat on the ground while sitting on the saddle. This is beneficial considering the bike's hefty weight.
The fat tires and suspension fork do a good job of absorbing bumps and vibrations. Don't expect the refinement of a purpose-built commuter, but it is comfortable enough for short trips around town and light cargo runs.
When you're carrying a passenger, the bike performs well with the extra weight, and the foot pegs make life easier for the passenger. But cornering takes more input than if you were riding by yourself. This isn't a problem once you have ridden with a passenger a couple of times, but it's worth being mindful of it until you're used to it.
Motor, Battery, and Range

Things to Know Before You Buy
- Weight. At 75lbs, getting it upstairs or into a van can be a two-person job. Sort out your storage before buying.
- Not suitable for riders under 16. Electra specifies the Ponto Go! for riders and passengers 16 and up. It's not designed for carrying children.
- Tire replacement. Electra strongly recommends original equipment tires only. Changing tire size affects the speed calculation, load capacity, and e-system. Replacements need to match the proprietary spec.
- Charge time. Seven hours from flat to full is longer than most e-Bikes. Overnight charging is the way to do it.
- Servicing the e-system. You'll need an authorized Trek or Electra dealer for any motor-related work. Check there's one nearby before buying.
- Fat tires on-road. Comfortable on rough surfaces, but the 20x4-inch tires create more rolling resistance than narrower tires on tarmac. This reduces the range slightly.
Who Should Buy the Ponto Go!?
- Riders who regularly travel with a passenger.
- Urban riders who want a comfortable, fun, moped-style e-Bike for short trips.
- Anyone replacing short car trips who wants something with a bit of personality.
- Riders who need to carry cargo regularly but don't need the full capacity of a dedicated longtail cargo bike.
- If solo commuting with serious range or hill capability is the priority, there are better options in the commuter e-Bike category.
